It is also known as phyllanthus emblica, emblic myrobalan, myrobalan, indian gooseberry etc. Amla tree mainly propagate from seedling and air layering methods. The best propagation methods is air layering. Air layering is a method of propagating new trees and shrubs from stems still attached to the parent plant. The stem is wrapped with damp coco peat or other media to encourage roots to form. Air layering is an effective propagation method for some plants that do not root readily from cuttings and which often lack low-growing shoots suitable for conventional layering, such as magnolia, hazel, cotinus and flowering cornus species. Amalaki or amla tree air layering step: 1) Select a healthy branch of about one year old. Trim off side shoots and leaves from a section. 2) Make two clean cuts around the branch about one inch apart with a sharp knife. 3) Gently peel off the bark between those two cuts. 4) Make a ball of soil mixed with soil mixed with cocopeat and vermicompost around the area where the bark has been peeled off. 5) Wrap the soil using a plastic sheet of right size. 6) Tie the ends tightly with thread, so that no water or air can enter. 7) Now you have to wait for about seven to ten weeks, before rooting takes place.
